Solstice Archives by Ivan Ewert 2009 - Compromises In the days of the first Voyageurs, some lucky few found themselves enchanted by a unique place along the Fox Valley. The great ash tree which stood along the riverbank served as their gathering place, and it was here that they both made their fortunes and perpetuated their wars against the native peoples. Around that ash grew a community, around that community grew a town. It was a place unto itself, set apart from its neighbors by chance, by choice, and by something more. Not all who live within its boundaries are aware of how they differ from the mass of mankind, of how far from human they truly are. Those souls drawn to Solstice are twiceborn, reincarnate spirits of primordial beings who walked the earth in the days of legends. Here in the streets of this modern exurb, those once worshipped as gods rub shoulders with the great beasts of myth. Their powers have fled, their fame reduced to dry studies for intellectuals, yet here they gather; both those who recall their rightful place - and those who have fallen even from their own memories. Great names walk the streets of Solstice, forced into compromise by their now too-mortal shells. Great tales were once told of their prowess, their glory, and their immortal reign. These are their new tales - the suburban sagas of Solstice.

Factions exist within Solstice, as in all places. Mayor Long oversees the largest number of twiceborn, his coils wrapped loose yet steady all the same. The forces of Creation pursue their none-too secret vendettas against those forces which once stood for destruction, though they have suffered much of late; and the ranks of those Independents swell in silence as a new sun breaks across the rim of the valley. She heralds new beginnings - a brighter day for many, though her truths remain hidden within her mortal dream. What will wake beneath her bright and beaming smile, what will change in Solstice and her citizens? What, too, will end as the moon first shows, then shifts his fickle face?
